Do you struggle to find the motivation to get to the gym to workout?

Is your lack of motivation stopping you from making the changes you've always wanted to make?

This problem becomes even more frustrating, especially when you know the steps you need to take, but struggle to stay motivated to just do it.

As a coach who has worked with hundreds of women in helping them finally make going to the gym part of their lifestyle, I know it is a struggle for a lot of women, especially in today's society.

And that’s why relying on motivation is unreliable.

What is motivation?

In the beginning, you are motivated. The gym is a brand new addition to your routine and it is exciting!

So you check out gym memberships, you think about the new routine you are about to implement into your life, you join the gym and embark upon the start of your new journey, with all the best intentions in the world.

How long will it last? A week? Until motivation disappears?

How many times have you been through this cycle and are yet still no closer to your goals.

Why is that?

We are humans, we have lives. Relying on motivation alone means that when your child gets sick, your car breaks down, you have a bad day at work or the absolute unexpected happens, your motivation for going to the gym gets pushed aside, because there are other things on your mind that take over, and essentially become your number 1 priority.

Lets face it, shit happens, and life is hard sometimes.

Discipline is where we have things to do, and we HAVE to do them, regardless of emotions.

Just like getting up each day when your alarm goes off so you can go to work

Brushing your teeth

Feeding your children

We have a job to do and we do it.

A phrase i love, is Fuck your mood, Follow the plan, from extremely successful businesswoman, Leila Hormozi.

It's a nice mantra that means we get shit done no matter how we’re feeling. We are so much more likely to succeed if we focus on this, rather than relying on motivation alone.

It means when shit happens, or we don’t feel like it, we dont leave it to emotions to decide what we do, even if we know what needs to be done.

It means we do the things we need to do to succeed and it actually get done.

Goals

Body transformation goals are often long term goals, so you need to be in it for the long haul.

Let's say 6 months minimum.

Imagine the last 6 months of your life and how they looked, the struggles you faced and the emotions you felt. If you left it to emotion throughout those 6 months would you have kept up the habit of regular workouts?

Probably not.

The ones who succeed do it no matter how they are feeling.

If you truly want to change your life, you cant rely on motivation or for the perfect point in your life where there are no obstacles and going to workout 3 times per week is easy, because it wont happen.

Fuck your mood, follow the plan.

The Solution

Make a plan, follow it - regardless of emotions.

To be able to follow the plan, you obviously need a plan with clear actionable steps you can take.

Be disciplined with yourself.

Know that your body changes will take some time, you will require some element of long term gratification.

Know that you will need to put in the work, when you don't feel like it, sometimes without immediate results, all in aid of the long term plan.

That is when the magic happens.

And I wont lie, it's not easy. But nothing worth having comes easy.

But you will learn a lot about yourself, build credibility with yourself and by following the plan you set out to do, and finally achieving the results you wanted, will give you SO MUCH pride and sense of achievement, that you can't believe you almost quit.
